At Home: October 2026

Our monthly series, At Home, where we highlight what we’re using, sourcing and loving, as well as what’s inspiring us each month.

I love October’s placidity. Everything about it feels composed and serene; my morning walks see much less people and the marsh grass on the cove outside my window have changed from a vibrant green to a golden hue of hay. It’s so contemplative and inviting. In a way, this month also feels like the wrap-up of the year before we enter the holiday-space-time-continuum, which feels like it’s own standalone year in and of itself, too.

At home this month, we’re almost wrapping up our exterior renovation project (right before the weather turns). As I write this, we’ve completed the north (right side of house/garage) and west (back of house) runs; we’re half-way through the south (left side of house) and will be putting in a new row of windows (in our living room) facing the water next week; once windows are in and the rest of the cedar shingles is on the south run, we’ll turn the corner to the east (front of house) where we’ll replace a bay window, another window in the front entry and the shingles. I’ll share more in-depth details on the entire project as it wraps up in the next few weeks. This weekend, we’ll be having our very first fire in the living room at the cottage on Sunday morning and having dinner at home with our families. Hope you’re having a beautiful month at home, too. —CW
