Portside: Entry

Inside Portside, a whole-home design project inside a casual coastal contemporary home on Long Island Sound.

A warm welcome and soft embrace. Upon entrance to Portside, the entry sets the tone: colors of sea, salt and sun; crisp and clean; light and bright; livable.

The space’s narrow color palette is given dimension through tone variation, texture and pattern with details like a grasscloth console, braided sconces, lampakanay rope mirror, vintage nautical art, botanical block print cushion, denim accent pillows and chunky braided jute rug.

Three distinct areas within the entry give the space its functionality: the first is a drop-zone right off the front door, complete with a console, mail tray, catch-call bowl and rattan bins for extra storage; the second is a built-in bench with custom cushion, decorative pillows and oversized bins underneath for shoe storage; and the third is a custom built-in with a mix of open-and-closed-cabinetry for coat storage and all accessories.
